CONCERTINO is a woodwind ensemble that was set up in early 1998 by some enthusiastic woodwind players and conductor / clarinettist Conrad Onclin.
As its name suggests the ensemble was arranged homogeneously, by mainly clarinets and a limited but diverse set of saxophones, ranging from the alto to the bass sax.
This young band consist of approximately 30 schooled musicians and amateurs from the area of South Limburg (Belgium), including quite some students and ex-students of Conrad Onclin. Concertino's main aim is to produce quality music, which is entertaining at the same time. It has been clear from the start that their varied and dynamic music appeals to a large audience.
This ensemble is surprising in that it combines both virtuosity and a homogeneous but still varied timbre of two kinds of woodwind instruments mentioned above.
